Bethany Patten

Bethany Patten is the inaugural Executive Director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Climate Policy Center, serving as MIT’s 'front door' to provide evidence-based climate research for policymakers. Previously, she was the Director of Policy and Engagement for the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, where she cofounded the MIT Climate Pathways Project. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, teaching courses such as Sustainable Business Lab (‘S-Lab’) and several Executive Education courses. Her work focuses on translating academic research into real-world impact in the public and private sector, with an emphasis on ethical political engagement. She is a member of the MIT Climate Policy Working Group and sits on the Faculty DEI Committee at MIT Sloan.
