Bala Dharan
Regular biography
Bala Dharan is a Visiting Professor, Accounting, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is affiliated with the Sloan School of Management and has previously held academic positions at Harvard Law School, Rice University, Northwestern University, Harvard Business School, and the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include financial statement analysis and valuation. He has published in major accounting and finance journals and is coauthor of four editions of textbooks. He has testified before U.S. Congress and has extensive consulting experience in financial reporting, auditing, and corporate governance. Dharan holds an MS and PhD in accounting from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a BTech in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He is a CPA and holds the ABV and CFF credentials.
