Antoinette Schoar

Antoinette Schoar is the Stewart C. Myers-Horn Family Professor of Finance at MIT Sloan School of Management. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree from Germany. Her research interests span from entrepreneurial finance to household finance, fintech, cryptocurrencies, and financial intermediation. She received several awards including the Kauffman Prize Medal for Distinguished Research in Entrepreneurship and the Brattle Prize for best paper in the Journal of Finance. She is the co-chair of the NBER Corporate Finance group and the Executive Editor of the Journal of Finance. She also is the cofounder of ideas42, a non-profit organization that uses insights from behavioral economics and psychology to solve social problems.

Antoinette Schoar is a researcher at MIT with a focus on corporate finance, entrepreneurship, and financial markets. Her work explores the impact of managerial behavior on firm policies, the performance of private equity and sovereign wealth funds, and the role of family in family firms. Schoar also investigates financial literacy, arbitrage in cryptocurrency markets, and the effects of corporate diversification on productivity. Her research highlights the interplay between legal enforcement, financial contracting, and entrepreneurial finance. Additionally, she examines how economic conditions influence CEO careers and management styles, as well as the consequences of banking deregulation and liquidity crises.
