Andrew Gordon Sutherland

Andrew Gordon Sutherland is the Boeing Associate Professor of Management and an Associate Professor of Accounting at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research focuses on financial institutions, covering three broad areas: how entrepreneurs and privately held firms obtain credit, information sharing and technology adoption, and auditing and financial misconduct. His work is published in top accounting, finance, and management journals. Sutherland previously worked as a consultant advising companies on valuation, investment policy, performance measurement, and executive compensation. He teaches in the MBA, Master of Finance, and PhD programs at MIT Sloan. In 2023, he won the Jamieson Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Sloan's top teaching prize. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
