Laurel Larsen

Laurel Larsen is an Adjunct Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include hydroecology, landscape dynamics, complex environmental systems, and environmental restoration. Larsen's work focuses on understanding the interactions between water and physical and biological components of the environment, often examining nonlinear processes that lead to sudden shifts in landscape states. Her research integrates field and laboratory work with simulation modeling to study environmental systems at the landscape scale. Larsen has conducted research in the Everglades, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Wax Lake Delta, with an emphasis on the role of flowing water in shaping landscapes.
