Sanjay Govindjee
Regular biography
Sanjay Govindjee is the Horace, Dorothy, and Katherine Johnson Professor in Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research interests include finite element analysis, theoretical and computational solid mechanics, constitutive theory, micromechanics, polymer mechanics, and elastomer modeling. Govindjee's work focuses on the modeling of non-linear phenomena in solids, with an emphasis on coupled field effects, microelectromechanical systems, and polymer and elastomer mechanics. He also has expertise in computational mechanics and finite element modeling. His current research includes uncertainty quantification for large nonlinear systems and time-dependent phenomena in liquid crystal elastomers.
