Jasper Rine

Jasper Rine is a Professor Emeritus of Genetics at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. His research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms that govern the stable and heritable expression of genomic information through cell division. His work explores how chromatin structure is established, maintained, and inherited, using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system. Recent efforts have expanded to investigate the functional consequences of human genetic and epigenetic variation, particularly in relation to birth defects and cancer. His research also examines the interplay between metabolism and chromatin structure, including the impact of isocitrate dehydrogenase mutations on epigenetic processes.
