John Ngai
Regular biography
John Ngai is a Professor Emeritus of Neurobiology and Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the function, development, and regeneration of the vertebrate olfactory system. He utilizes a range of experimental tools, including molecular biology, genomics, computational biology, and behavior, with the mouse and zebrafish as model systems. His work also involves developing genomics and genome engineering technologies to study neuronal diversity in the nervous system. Ngai's research includes investigations into olfactory stem cells and neural regeneration, as well as a BRAIN Initiative project aimed at classifying cell types in the mammalian nervous system.
