Molly Ohainle is an Assistant Professor of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. Her research focuses on understanding how cells defend against viral pathogens, particularly HIV and related primate lentiviruses. She employs functional genomics and molecular virology to investigate the molecular interactions that determine the outcomes of virus infection. Her work explores the evolutionary arms race between viruses and their hosts, including the mechanisms by which host defenses are evaded and how these interactions influence viral transmission and pathogenesis.
