Kay Severin is a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Department of Chemistry (CHEM). He was born in Germany in 1967 and obtained his Ph.D. in 1995 with a thesis in the group of Prof. W. Beck, University of Munich. He joined the group of Prof. M. R. Ghadiri as a postdoctoral fellow and started independent research projects ("Habilitation") at the University of Munich in 1997. He became an assistant professor at EPFL in 2001 and was appointed Full Professor there since 2009. His research interests include supramolecular chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and preparative chemistry. He teaches courses such as Chemistry of Elements s and p, Inorganic Chemistry "Applications and spin-offs," and Supramolecular Chemistry.
