Meret Aeppli

Meret Aeppli is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the CE department at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. She leads the soil biogeochemistry laboratory (SOIL) and focuses on electron transfer reactions and their role in biogeochemical cycling of carbon and metals in soil. Aeppli joined EPFL in September 2022 after serving as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University's department of Earth System Science from 2019 to 2022. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Environmental Sciences from ETH Zurich and a PhD from ETH Zurich in 2018. She was awarded the ETH Medal for her dissertation work on iron mineral redox properties and reactivities. Her research includes studies on carbon turnover in soils and sediments.
