Julia Schmale

Julia Schmale is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the Department of CE at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Her research focuses on atmospheric science, aerosol-cloud interactions, and climate change in polar regions. She is affiliated with the Extreme Environments Research Laboratory (EERL) and the Diversity Office at ENAC. Schmale's work investigates interactions between the atmosphere, cryosphere, biosphere, ocean, land, and anthroposphere to better understand climate change impacts on extreme environments. She teaches courses on the physics and chemistry of the atmosphere and the science of climate change. Her research includes Arctic and Antarctic projects, and she has received teaching awards such as the SIE Best Teacher Award and the SMT Best Teacher Award.
