Charlotte Malterre-Barthes

Charlotte Malterre-Barthes is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the CE department at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Her research and teaching focus on architecture, urban design, and territory, with an emphasis on the political economy of space production. She has taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and directed the post-graduate Master of Advanced Studies in Urban Design at ETH Zurich. Her work explores urgent aspects of contemporary urbanization, material extraction, and climate emergency, as well as spatial justice and ecological/social equity. Malterre-Barthes is also co-founder of OMNIBUS, an urban design laboratory, and has published extensively on these topics. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from ETH Zurich and has taught courses on fieldwork methodologies, architectural practice, and the political economy of construction.
