Silvestro Micera

Silvestro Micera is a Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the ME department. He holds the Bertarelli Foundation Chair in Translational Neuroengineering. His research focuses on neuroengineering, with an emphasis on neural signals and signal processing, robotics, and autonomous systems. He teaches courses such as Neural Signals and Signal Processing, Robotics Practical, and Topics in Autonomous Robotics. He supervises PhD students and has directed and co-directed multiple theses at EPFL.

Silvestro Micera is a researcher in neural engineering, bioelectronics, neurotechnology, bioelectronic medicine, and neuroprosthetics. His work focuses on developing advanced neural interfaces for restoring sensory feedback and motor control in prosthetic devices. He has contributed to the design of bidirectional hand prostheses, brain–spine interfaces, and intraneural stimulation systems for robotic hand control.
