Selman Sakar

Selman Sakar is a Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Mechanical Engineering (ME) department. His research is centered on the MicroBioRobotic Systems Laboratory, where he explores micro and nano robotics, dynamical systems, and related technologies. He teaches courses such as Dynamical Systems, Micro/Nano Robotics, and Robotics Practicals. Mahmut Selman Sakar is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at EPFL, specializing in microrobotics, bioengineering, acoustofluidics, mechanobiology, and medical robotics. His research focuses on developing soft micromachines, programmable microrobots, and biohybrid systems for targeted therapeutic interventions. He explores the interplay between cellular mechanics and extracellular matrix dynamics, as well as the design of 3D-printed biological machines powered by skeletal muscle. His work integrates microrobotics with biomedical applications, including single-cell manipulation and cancer immunotherapy. Sakar's research also addresses collective transport in swarm robotic systems and the development of magnetic and optical control strategies for microscale devices.
