Yvette Fisher is an Assistant Professor in the Department of BIO at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on understanding how the brain constructs and maintains a coherent sense of direction in the face of changing environmental and physiological conditions. Fisher explores these questions using the navigational circuitry of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, combining genetic tools, in vivo electrophysiology, and 2-photon imaging during behavior. Her work investigates how synaptic plasticity, neuromodulation, and network homeostasis contribute to spatial memory and directional sensing.
