Regular biography
James Emery is an Associate Professor of the Practice in the Management and Organizations department at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He serves as Faculty Director for Fuqua’s Client Consulting Practicum and is an Adjunct Professor in the same department. His leadership research focuses on loyalty, trust, and inspiration in leader-follower relationships, as well as how educational experiences affect leadership development. Emery is part of an interdisciplinary research team funded by a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to explore ways to improve teamwork in patient care processes. He has provided executive education and leadership coaching to for-profit corporations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies over the past eight years. Emery received his PhD and MBA in Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.
