SHIMANO Ryo

Optical properties of condensed matter

About
Regular biography

SHIMANO Ryo is a Faculty member at The University of Tokyo, Department of PHY. His research focuses on the optical properties of condensed matter, particularly the creation and manipulation of many-body quantum systems using optical and terahertz pulses. His work includes the study of quantum degenerate phases, optical control of superconductivity, and collective excitations in correlated electron systems. He is also interested in novel optical phenomena related to topological phases in condensed matter. His research has led to significant contributions in the field, including the observation of ultrafast magnetization switching and the demonstration of light-induced superconducting-like states.
