The Division of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, is led by the Chair, whose research focuses on immunology and molecular medicine. The division conducts advanced research to understand the immune system and host responses to infection, with emphasis on immune surveillance in cancer, apoptosis, tissue transplantation, autoimmunity, infectious disease, and molecular and cellular aspects of aging. Faculty members work to develop therapies based on immune system manipulation and molecular pathways relevant to human health and disease. The division maintains state-of-the-art instrumentation and hosts a weekly seminar series, collaborating with the immunology program at the University of California, San Francisco.
