Biophysics and Structural Biology Biochemistry

The Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology division at the University of California, Berkeley, is led by faculty members engaged in advanced study of the biological chemistry of cellular metabolites, enzymatic catalysis, and the structure and function of biological macromolecules. Research spans from bacteria to human cells, with faculty participating in interdepartmental programs in structural biology, chemical biology, microbiology, and toxicology. The division provides access to advanced facilities for protein-sequence analysis, X-ray crystallography, and NMR spectrometry, and hosts weekly seminars and distinguished lecturers.
