Dr. Yuan Yao is an Associate Professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his Bachelor of Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2015 and his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 2020. From 2020 to 2021, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Solid State Physics, and later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a tenure-track Associated Professor. His research interests include non-perturbative methods in many-body systems and their topological structures, with a focus on non-perturbative constraints from symmetry and other microscopic data, and understanding nontrivial topology of the quantum phase diagram, including exotic quantum phase transitions.
