Weidong Luo is a faculty member in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests include first-principles studies of complex oxides, topological insulators, and nanostructures. Luo earned his bachelor's degree in physics from Peking University in 1997 and his PhD in physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. He has held postdoctoral and research assistant professor positions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Vanderbilt University, and later worked as a research scientist at Stanford University before joining Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012. His work includes contributions to the understanding of complex oxides and their interfaces, as well as studies on nanoscale phenomena.
