Regular biography
Haiguang Xu is a faculty member in the Department of Astronomy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests include X-ray imaging spectroscopic study of galaxies, galaxy groups, and galaxy clusters; dark matter distributions; first generation objects in the universe and cosmic reionization; and low-frequency radio experiment and observation. Xu received his Ph.D. degree in Physics in 1998 from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, after completing his thesis work on X-ray study of galaxy clusters at the University of Tokyo, Japan, as a government exchange student supported by the Monbusho Scholarship. From 2000 to 2001, he worked as a post-doctorial research scientist at Columbia University, USA, where he led a high quality X-ray spectroscopic study of the early-type galaxy NGC 4636.
