Regular biography
A/Prof Bram Slagmolen is a Senior Fellow at The Australian National University, affiliated with the Department of PHY and the Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics. His research focuses on the development of measurement technologies and hardware for gravitational wave detection, particularly for the Advanced LIGO project. His work includes optical laser interferometry, sensor development for low-frequency gravitational force signals, and improvements to gravitational wave detectors. He is the chair of the Australian Consortium for Interferometric Gravitational Astronomy (ACIGA) and a committee member of the Multi-Messenger Astronomy Advisory Committee (MMAAC). Slagmolen received his BSc in Photonics from TH Rijswijk, Den Haag (Netherlands) in 1998 and his PhD from ANU in 2005.
