Regular biography
Laura Havener is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Yale University. Her research focuses on experimental nuclear physics, with an emphasis on studying quantum chromodynamics (QCD) through high-energy particle colliders. She is involved in the ALICE, ePIC, and STAR collaborations, where she investigates the properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) produced in heavy-ion collisions. Havener specializes in jet substructure techniques to analyze interactions between jets and the QGP. She received her bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her PhD in Physics from Columbia University in 2018. Prior to joining Yale, she was a Postdoc in the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Group.
