John Harris is the D. Allan Bromley Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics at Yale University. His research focuses on Nuclear Physics, particularly the study of high energy density Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) created in relativistic collisions of heavy nuclei. His work explores the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), a deconfined phase of matter predicted to have existed shortly after the Big Bang. Harris has been involved in major experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), including the STAR experiment at Brookhaven and the ALICE experiment at CERN.
