Charles Baltay

Charles Baltay is the Eugene Higgins Professor Emeritus of Physics at Yale University, Department of Physics. His research focuses on Astrophysics & Cosmology, Particle Physics, and projects such as the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and the Quasar Equatorial Survey Team (QUEST) Camera. He has contributed to experimental physics through studies involving Bubble Chambers, neutrino interactions, and electroweak measurements. His recent work explores Dark Energy, utilizing ground-based telescopes and space missions to study distant supernovae. Baltay has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses, ranging from introductory physics to general relativity. His PhD, from Yale University, was completed under the guidance of Prof. Horace Taff, with a dissertation on antihyperon production in antiproton-proton reactions.
