Jere R. Behrman

Jere R. Behrman is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Economics. His research focuses on empirical microeconomics, with an emphasis on developing economies. He is also a Research Associate at Penn’s Population Studies Center, Population Aging Research Center, and Penn Development Research Initiative. His work includes empirical microeconomics, labor economics, human resources, project evaluation, economic demography, incentive systems, and household behaviors. He has published over 530 professional articles and 36 books. He has been involved in research or lecturing in over forty countries and has served on 175 Ph.D. committees. He has received numerous honors, including the 2008 Carlos Diaz-Alejandro Prize and the 2017 Irene B. Taeuber Award.

His research also investigates the long-term consequences of early childhood growth failure and the effectiveness of interventions such as conditional cash transfers.
