Juan Pablo Atal is an Assistant Professor and Associate Undergraduate Chair in the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2016 before joining Penn. His research interests include public economics, industrial organization, and health economics. Atal's work explores topics such as physicians' occupational licensing, the economics of the public option, long-term health insurance, and quality regulation in pharmaceutical markets. He is affiliated with the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics.
