Kent Smetters

Kent Smetters is a Professor in the Business Economics and Public Policy Department at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. His research interests include applied theory, finance, public economics, insurance, and health care. He is also a professor of Insurance and Risk Management and a faculty member in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science at Penn. Smetters is the Boettner Chair Professor and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has held previous policy positions, including at the Congressional Budget Office and the United States Treasury. His work has been recognized with awards such as the 2016 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award. He is the host of a personal finance radio show and a monthly contributor to the Wall Street Journal.
