Dr. Burcu Esmer is a Senior Lecturer of Finance at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and serves as Academic Director of the Harris Family Alternative Investments Program and the Wharton-AltFinance Institute. Her research focuses on private equity and empirical corporate finance, particularly agency conflicts and their impact on corporate policies. Dr. Esmer teaches courses on private equity and corporate finance at Wharton Executive Education and degree programs. She is also involved in initiatives aimed at increasing diversity in asset management and alternative investments, including the Girls Who Invest Summer Intensive Program. Her work has been published in journals such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Banking & Finance, and Applied Mathematical Modelling.
