Regular biography
Alan Kaplan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University. He joined the department as a lecturer in 2014 and was promoted to senior lecturer in 2022. Dr. Kaplan holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a B.S. in Computer Science from Duke University. His career includes academic research, industrial R&D, and technology startup/entrepreneurship. He has over twenty-five years of experience leading research and product development in mobile networking applications. Dr. Kaplan is an active volunteer in the IEEE and serves as the Chair of the Steering Committee for the IEEE Consumer Communications and Network Conference. At Princeton, he co-instructs COS 126 and recently designed the Raspberry Pi precept for introductory computer science students.
