Catherine Peters

Catherine Peters is the George J. Magee Professor of Geosciences and Geological Engineering at Princeton University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her research interests include Water, Climate and Energy, Chemistry, Biology and Technology. She focuses on environmental challenges related to subsurface energy technologies, such as geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide, geothermal energy production, and hydrofracking for shale gas extraction. Peters applies laboratory experiments, imaging techniques, and mathematical modeling to address these issues. She collaborates with colleagues at various universities and national labs and has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Engineering Science and a Fellow of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors.
