Marcus Doherty

Dr Marcus Doherty is a Professor at The Australian National University, affiliated with the Physics department. His primary research interest is the innovation of solid-state quantum technologies, particularly those based on optical defects in diamond and related materials. His current research spans three programs: Defect discovery and engineering, Quantum microscopy, and Quantum computing and communications. These programs involve first-principles defect theory and the design of quantum devices. Doherty joined ANU in 2012 as a postdoctoral fellow and now leads the Diamond Quantum Science and Technology research program. His work includes the development of quantum microscopy, quantum computing, and quantum communications technologies.

Marcus William Doherty is a researcher at the Laser Physics Centre, Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University. His work focuses on quantum information processing and quantum metrology, with an emphasis on diamond-based quantum systems. His research explores the properties and applications of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers, silicon-vacancy centers, and other defect centers in diamond.
