Dr Marcus Doherty is a Professor at The Australian National University, affiliated with the Physics department. His primary research interest is the innovation of solid-state quantum technologies, particularly those based on optical defects in diamond and related materials. His current research spans three programs: Defect discovery and engineering, Quantum microscopy, and Quantum computing and communications. These programs involve first-principles defect theory and the design of quantum devices. Doherty joined ANU in 2012 as a postdoctoral fellow and now leads the Diamond Quantum Science and Technology research program.
