Stephen Buckman

Professor Stephen Buckman is a Professor in the Department of PHY at The Australian National University. His research interests include Atomic and Electron Spectroscopy, Positron Physics, and Applications of Electron and Positron Physics. Buckman was born and raised in Sydney, NSW, and educated in both Sydney and Adelaide. He earned his PhD in Atomic Physics from Flinders University in 1979. Following postdoctoral positions at the University of Manchester and the University of Colorado, he returned to Australia in 1983 to take up a Research Fellowship position in the Research School of Physics and Engineering (RSPE) at the ANU. He was appointed to the tenured staff (Fellow) at ANU in 1989 and later promoted to Professor in 1999. He has held various leadership roles within RSPE, including Director from 2012.
