Regular biography
Dr. Arantzazu Alarcon-Fleming is a Professor of Instruction in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Northwestern University. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from both the University of Sevilla and Northwestern University, along with MS degrees from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and Northwestern University. Dr. Alarcon is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and a member of the Structural Engineering Association of Illinois and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Prior to joining Northwestern, she worked for Halvorson and Partners on major building projects. She teaches courses such as Mechanics of Materials and Structural Steel Design.
