Maggie Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at McGill University. Her research focuses on Labour Economics, Economic History, Race and Inequality, and Economic Issues Facing Indigenous Populations. Jones joined the Department of Economics at McGill in 2025 and is a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and RF Berlin. Her work explores the institutional roots of socioeconomic inequalities in North America, with thematic emphasis on the economic legacy of colonization among Indigenous populations and the economics of the Civil Rights Era. Her research has been published in leading economics journals, including the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the Review of Economic Studies.
