John Taylor

John Taylor is a Professor in the School of Computing, College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics at The Australian National University. His research focuses on AI for science, applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to challenging science problems, including the development of novel algorithms, their optimization, and application across science and engineering domains. His work spans scalable ML/AI models, HPC systems, ocean forecasting, and extreme weather events. He has held leadership roles at CSIRO Data61 and the Defence Science and Technology Group, driving computational science initiatives and HPC capabilities. Taylor is also the Chair of the ACM Gordon Bell Climate Modelling Prize.
