Hanna Suominen is a Professor and Associate Director (Neuroinformatics) at the Eccles Institute, ANU, affiliated with the School of Computing. Her research focuses on Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) with applications in health sciences and education. She has over 20 years of experience at the intersection of technology, health, and education, contributing to methods for detecting Parkinsonian biomarkers through ML on human voice, as well as developing search engines and smart sports-sensors. She is also involved in co-producing ML and NLP research with real-world impact and is passionate about translating these technologies into practical products. She is the Co-chair/Executive Leader (Computing and Engineering) of Our Health in Our Hands (OHIOH), the inaugural ANU Grand Challenge Program.
