Siu-Ming Yiu is a Professor of Computer Science at The University of Hong Kong, specializing in Cybersecurity, Cryptography, FinTech, and Bioinformatics. His research focuses on developing efficient and secure computational methods for data analysis, particularly in genome assembly and privacy-preserving machine learning. Yiu has contributed to the development of de novo genome assemblers such as SOAPdenovo2 and IDBA-UD, which are widely used in bioinformatics. His work also addresses cryptographic challenges in cloud computing and vehicular networks, including secure communications and federated learning. Additionally, he explores the intersection of cybersecurity and financial technology to enhance system security and data privacy.
