Hyungwoong Ahn

Dr Hyungwoong Ahn is an academic staff member in the School of Engineering at The University of Edinburgh, specializing in Chemical Engineering. He is affiliated with the ME department and holds the title of Senior Lecturer. Dr Ahn is also an Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and Yonsei University. His research interests include Chemical Engineering, with a focus on separation processes and carbon capture. He is involved in teaching courses such as Separation Processes for Carbon Capture and Engineering Mathematics 2A, and serves as a project supervisor and moderator for various MSc projects. Additionally, he is the Exchange Programme Coordinator for Chemical Engineering and Cohort Lead for the 2024 incoming cohort of chemical engineering students.

Hyungwoong Ahn is a chemical engineer specializing in separation processes, process integration, and carbon capture technologies. His research focuses on adsorption processes, particularly in hydrogen purification, CO2 capture, and the integration of carbon capture systems into power plants and industrial processes. Ahn's work includes the simulation and optimization of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) systems for hydrogen separation and the evaluation of amine-based and adsorption-based CO2 capture technologies. His research also explores the effects of feed composition and capillary condensation on adsorption dynamics, as well as the application of advanced technologies for CO2 capture from industrial sources.
