New Darwin

New Darwin is a strategic initiative at The University of Edinburgh's School of Biology, aimed at redeveloping the estate and infrastructure to support collaborative science. The project, known as 'New Darwin,' focuses on expanding research and teaching capacity, enhancing quality, and generating health, social, and economic benefits. It involves multiple phases and components, including new buildings and changes to adjacent spaces, to provide modern facilities for the School. The project was relaunched in 2024 following delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with construction expected to begin in Autumn 2025 and the building slated to open in 2028.
