Erin Gibson

Erin Gibson is from Chilliwack, British Columbia. She is an anthropological archaeologist whose research focuses on the relationships among heritage formation, identity, and social action in contested colonial landscapes (British Columbia and Cyprus). This work is grounded in PhD and postdoctoral research that sought to better understand the role of movement and social interaction (the construction, use and maintenance of roads and pathways) in the negotiation of power. In 2018, Erin completed a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellowship at the University of Glasgow, Scotland where the 'PATH: Pathways to Heritage' project looked at the role heritage formation might play in addressing identity loss and the depopulation of a rural Cypriot village. Erin is currently a senior researcher at the Stó:lō Research and Resource Management Centre (SRRMC) in Chilliwack, British Columbia where she works on behalf of the S’ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance (STSA). Her research focuses on understanding the cumulative impacts of infrastructure projects on the integrated nature of Stó:lō culture and ways of life and the role of heritage in reconciliation.
