Dance training focuses on technique, conditioning, flexibility and repertoire. In class, students should gain expertise that fosters confidence in dance while learning in a challenging, encouraging and safe environment. The majority of my work comes from choreographing for musical theatre. I am drawn to narrative, characters, set pieces, props and costumes that work together to tell a story. While teaching and training in specific disciplines, my choreography is often not limited to one style; movement is open and inspired. Choreography should be a tool to move a story forward, push boundaries and ultimately best compliment the performers on stage. My work is inspired by choreographers like TOKYO, Kate Jablonski and Kenny Ortega. To complement this work, I am inspired by practices like authentic movement or movement meditation. I am interested in movement generated from the body's impulses.
