Dr. Christine Ho Younghusband is a second-generation Chinese Canadian woman, born and raised in Prince Rupert, B.C. She is an Assistant Professor with the UNBC School of Education. Christine is a full-time term faculty member since 2018 and currently teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and teacher education programs. Christine completed her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Simon Fraser University (SFU) in 2017. Her dissertation titled, "The Professional Learning Experiences of Non-Mathematics Subject Specialist Teachers: A Descriptive Study”, focused on out-of-field teaching, subject matter acquisition, and professional learning in B.C. schools. Her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, also from SFU, focused on mathematics education and communities of learning. Christine is a former secondary mathematics, science, and chemistry teacher with 16 years of experience teaching in B.C. public schools. She then served 7 years as an elected school trustee during her doctoral studies. Her research interests include mathematics education, teacher education, teacher professional development, identity development, and policy and practice. She is a mom of one, a curling champion, and a cat owner.
