Regular biography
Rick Geddes is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Cornell University and Founding Director of the Cornell Program in Infrastructure Policy. His research focuses on the funding, financing, and regulation of large infrastructure systems, particularly in the energy, water, and transportation sectors. He examines private investment through public-private partnerships, infrastructure resilience, and innovative financing mechanisms. Geddes also explores the impact of state-level policies on infrastructure and the regulation of industry. He teaches courses on infrastructure policy, corporate governance, and microeconomics. Geddes holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and has held visiting and advisory positions at various institutions, including Stanford University and the American Enterprise Institute.
