Patrick Michael Reed

Patrick Michael Reed is the Director of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Joseph C. Ford Professor of Engineering, and Academic Director of the Engineering Management Program at Cornell University. His research focuses on sustainable water management under conflicting demands from renewable energy systems, ecosystem services, expanding populations, and climate change. His work integrates sustainability science, risk management, economics, multiobjective decision making, operations research, computer science, and high performance computing. Reed has taught courses in fluid mechanics, groundwater hydrology, water resources engineering, and systems optimization. He has also been actively involved in service roles within the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI).
