Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Volk

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Volk is a professor at the Technical University of Munich, Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on metal forming and casting, with particular emphasis on sheet forming, simulation methods, continuous casting of light metals and copper base alloys, and composite casting. Prof. Volk studied physics and mechanics at Darmstadt University of Technology, graduating in 1994, and obtained his doctorate in 1999 under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Ehlers at the University of Stuttgart’s Institute of Mechanics. He joined BMW AG in Munich and held several positions in forming technology before becoming chair of Metal Forming and Casting since 2011.
