Prof. Dr.-Ing. Birgit Vogel-Heuser

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Birgit Vogel-Heuser is a professor at the Technical University of Munich, affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Her research interests include systems and software engineering, modeling of distributed and reliable embedded systems, and challenges arising from the demand for customer-specific products in plant manufacturing. She focuses on engineering and education in hybrid processes and heterogeneous distributed and intelligent systems using a human-centered approach. Vogel-Heuser received her Dipl. Ing. degree in electrical engineering in 1987 and her Dr.-Ing. degree in mechanical engineering in 1990 from RWTH Aachen, Germany. She was appointed to the Chair of Automation and Information Systems at TUM in 2009. Her research emphasizes evolvable field-level automation and architectures for manufacturing and logistics systems.
