Regular biography
Prof. Dr. Martin Elsner is a professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in the Department of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on analytical chemistry and water chemistry, particularly the development of analytical methods to study the fate of chemicals and microorganisms in complex systems. His work includes laser analysis, particle analysis, bio-analytics, and compound-specific isotope analysis to measure isotope effects at natural abundance. Elsner studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg and ETH Zürich, earning his doctorate in environmental sciences in 2003. He has held research positions at EAWAG and the University of Toronto and was appointed to the Chair of Analytical Chemistry and Water Chemistry at TUM in 2017.
